Targeting your prospective customers… and contacting them!

The November Tuesday @noon business skills workshops will explore the powerful impact of market research and direct marketing, or more plainly, how to target your prospective customers… and contact them with compelling offers that get results. By the end of the month, participants will have had the opportunity to create a list of targeted contacts and a plan for what to do with them–a direct marketing campaign from start to finish!

(Register) Nov 6: Audrey Barbakoff, Kitsap Regional Librarian, demos how to query databases licensed by Kitsap Regional Library for understanding your target demographics or to generate contact lists. The library’s business databases are full of free and low-cost business resources. If you want a sneak peak, here is a link to one very inclusive page of resources. You will need a library card to access these databases. Kitsap County residents can get an ecard online or come in to a branch library.

(Register) Nov 13: Audrey returns for a hands-on session, to help participants define their own queries and generate an actionable list for cold calls or direct mail. In the first half of class, Audrey will take the entire class through a couple of queries based on requests from participants. Then, for the remainder of class time, she will support participants one-on-one in creating their lists. We also plan to have first-hand accounts of entrepreneurs who have used these resources to connect with potential customers.

(Register) Nov 20: Andrejs Zommers of AMZ Productions helps us understand a simple direct marketing campaign from start to finish, including strategies for what makes a welcomed direct marketing appeal such as a low-cost direct mail postcard or e-mail.  Learn the 40/40/20 rule  and get a general overview of kinds of mailing lists available on the market (consumer, B2B, donor, etc.).  Andrejs will cover  list selection, best practices for avoiding questionable data sources and terms-of-service violations, and staying within CAN-SPAM Act compliance. Time permitting, Andrejs may also touch on response tracking and testing. Andrejs has been a speaker on the topic of direct marketing to SMB Nation, Kitsap Development Directors and more. (Register) Nov 27 : Entrepreneur’s coach Charlie King returns after his popular September session on Leadership Skills for Entrepreneurs to offer strategies designed to help you get clear on the value you offer and get past the fear of cold calls.
