A Future Home For OfficeXpats

Background

The pioneering coworking space OfficeXpats will soon have a new home on Bainbridge Island. Jason Omens and Leslie Schneider, owners and founders of OfficeXpats, are pleased to announce the acquisition of the property located at 350 Madison Avenue N. This significant investment marks a new chapter for the coworking community, already 14 years strong.

The building, currently occupied by tenants, will in time present a unique opportunity for OfficeXpats to grow responsibly while ensuring a smooth transition for existing coworking members.

Acquiring this property will allow us to re-invent our culture of collaboration and innovation in a beautiful new space, with stability for our future,” said Schneider, one of the founding partners. “We look forward to welcoming our members to this new building with even more community space as soon as it becomes available, hopefully within this year.

Set back in the trees on Madison Ave., the spacious facility has 4,200 square feet on two floors. Some of the features include: a second-floor boardroom with access to a large south-facing deck, seven large private offices with floor-to-ceiling windows. two kitchenettes, a shower in one of three bathrooms, covered bicycle parking, and ample vehicle parking

Tours of the new building will be scheduled each month this summer, and times may be changed to accommodate RSVPs. Next tour dates:

  • July 13th, afternoon (likely 5pm, after Rotary Auction)

  • July 14th, morning (likely 10am)

RSVP to [email protected] to confirm times. Private tours may also be given, as needed.  We love visiting the space.

When will OfficeXpats be able to move in?

We don’t know yet. The current tenants have a lease but may be able to move out ahead of the end of their lease. At this time, we expect to be moving by the end of the year. We will post updates as we get new information.

Will there need to be significant tenant improvements prior to the move?

No big changes, the space is really awesome as is. That said, we will want to do minor reconfiguration of the space. Give us your ideas when you tour it!

What will we love about the new space?

Towering native trees surround the modern architecture, and beautifully sculpted ornamental trees are featured just outside many of the floor-to-ceiling windows. And yes, windows that open to fresh outside air. As part of the landscaping are blueberries and strawberries to pick in the right season. Inside are skylights, tons of built-in storage, and maybe some secrets in the basement. If you can find it. A long, lovely second floor deck hints at great gatherings to come.

And, this new building is across the street from the Pavilion, home to OfficeXpats for 14 years. No need to alter a commute (unless you now want to bike here). Same great places to buy a lunch.

What are some new features to be offered to members?

Long time requests such as covered bicycle parking and a shower are already in place. We hope to have USPS mailboxes accessible outdoors and by key for those who use that service. We plan to create one of the work areas as a space without traditional desks—part lounge, part collaboration area, maybe with an espresso machine, maybe a cycle desk. What do you think?
